Work isn’t always a cakewalk. If it were all rainbows and butterflies all the time, everyone would get bored and look for the next challenge. Still, work stress can accumulate and be detrimental to overall well-being. Try some tips and tricks for handling work stress that will make you feel like yourself despite your hectic work schedule.

Set your work hours and stick to them

People, who are on their laptop and phone after work are over stressed. They  need to learn to turn it all off. This can be difficult for people whose job really never ends, but it is a must when looking at stress levels. Always being tuned into your work life will wear you out and leave you burnt out on the industry you are in. Think about ways you can optimize your time during work hours so that you can close your laptop at the end of the day. This will help your mind relax daily once your duties are done.

 Cut down screen time

To relax and get to sleep on time, you will have to eliminate how much time you spend staring at a screen. It is essential that you work in ways to shut off your phone, TV, and computer about an hour before bedtime. The light that is omitted from these gadgets can keep your brain from relaxing and make you lose sleep and become more anxious.

Take breaks while at work

It might seem like a good idea to just focus and knock all your work out, but breaks are essential. If you are losing focus and feeling antsy, the best way to relax is by taking a walk or getting some fresh air for a minute. This will make you more productive in the long run and will help you have a better work day.

Sometimes a break means working from home. A home environment eliminates the stress that comes from being in an office. Sometimes the commute, getting ready for work, and being in a work mood is what drains you at the end of the day. Ask your supervisors whether working from home is a policy they are considering. Even if it’s once a week, this can make a positive difference in your overall well-being.

Take weekend trips

Weekend trips make the weekend feel longer and completely different. Think about escapes that you and your friends can take together for a weekend of relaxation. If you live in New York City, tons of nearby places are only a train ride away. For example, Washington, D.C., is amazing, as are the Hamptons. You can’t really go wrong when taking the leap and booking a fun trip to relax and get away from work for the weekend. Take these weekend trips as opportunities to clear your head before the week ahead.

Take a deep breath, focus on the positive and talk to someone

If you need help finding the positive in your work, Google “therapist nyc” to find someone who can help you. Therapy is a great way to get to the root of your stress and figure out how to eliminate it. Talking to someone weekly is a great way to make sure you are being honest with yourself and what you can handle.

Work stress is never fun and can make you feel like you hate where you are in life. These practices are great for centering you and allowing you to relieve stressors of any position.
