Going on a road trip across the country is often one of the top items on a person’s bucket list. With good reasons as well. A road trip allows you to see dozens of interesting sights in a relatively short space of time. They’re generally cheap to embark on. And even better, you can bring your friends along for the ride. Whether you’re in a car, caravan or RV, you can share your space and your memories with your favorite people. That being said, traveling in a large group isn’t easy, especially for a long period of time. So, to make it a little more comfortable and tolerable for you, here are some road trip tips to remember.
1. Pack Light, One of the Important Road Trip Tips
If there’s a lot of you, space will be limited. So, don’t let one particular person hog it and don’t let the group take too much stuff. The less stuffs you take with you, the more you can collect to bring back home. Leaflets, foodstuffs, souvenirs… the list goes on. You also need room to buy gifts for your family back home. So, be frugal with your packing. Do you really need that games console? Do you really need that posh shower gel or that travel chess set? Probably not. You’ll thank yourself further down the line, when you have plenty of physical memories to take back with you.
2. Take your Accommodation with You!
Looking into a hotel can be expensive, especially for groups. On a road trip, you’ll need to stay in multiple hotels and those cost can skyrocket. This also means your road trip will be dictated by your accommodation and you may not get to live as you like. Want to spend a night in the wilderness? Too bad, there isn’t a hotel there. So, drive your accommodation! It’s not too hard to find a caravan, trailer or RV nowadays. It can really personalize your journey. Make sure you invest in a vehicle of the correct size, though. For example, you can fit more people in a bunkhouse RV than in a regular caravan. Don’t leave anybody sleeping on the floor!
3. Don’t Split Up
It goes without saying, but you could be in a strange location with no knowledge of how to get home. So, stay together to give yourselves the best shot at not getting lost. Plus, splitting up and trying to find every member of a group wastes time.
4. Don’t Leave all the Responsibility to One Person
Don’t leave all the money or the documents with one person. Don’t leave one person driving, or one person in charge of communicating home. Split up your duties and jobs so everyone gets an even share. You’re in a group for a reason. And, that reason is for everyone to chip in!
5. Take a Lot of Pictures and Videos!
If there’s a lot of you, you’ll have cameras to spare. Documenting every inch of your journey helps it to become a more vivid memory, rather than a forgotten one. You should even capture the dull moments. In twenty years time, when you’re trying to remember the particulars of your trip, they may seem all the more important.
Here are some of the wonderful road trip tips for large groups. Hope you enjoy traveling. And, explore new places of the world with a lot of fun.
