Another option is to cut the ginger into several pieces and boil into one cup of water. Drink this hot water three to four times a day. Similarly, you can boil three to four cloves of garlic too. 5. Gargle with Hot Water

Yes, gargle with hot water is also a great option to manage the problem to a large extent. Add a pinch of salt to the hot water. It will help to reduce the discomfort that is caused by the cough. The method will also help to remove the phlegm as well. What do you have to do? You have to just dissolve the salt in the hot water first and then gargle it for at least 15 seconds and then spit it. Then again do it for 5 more times.

  1. All the things I use except Tumeric in milk..thats news to me and I shall try it one day…What! I knew its great as a spice and also for dark eye circles but not as a cough remedy..yippeee thanks for sharing!

  2. Both of my Dominican grandmothers used pretty much all of these remedies except tumeric throughout my childhood. I hadn’t thought too much of it because now I just grab some cough syrup if I am ill, but the natural remedies probably worked just as well, without the side effects. I particularly remember the spoonful of lemon juice and honey my grandma used to give me, it didn’t taste too bad even to a kid, and its safer. Great post!
