Don’t get me wrong, I love boyfriend jeans! They are the quintessential trousers to wear on off days to look effortlessly chic. And, I have enough pairs to last me for the next decade. But, if your off days are as bustling as that of mine – going from the gym to shopping or a quick detour to the shoe store, then carrying another set of clothes to change after workout is really not practical. So these days, rather than carrying another set of clothes, I have been wearing my yoga pants beyond the doors of the gym. From printed leggings to bold bright colors, demure tones or with a subtle pattern, these are some of the ways I have been wearing my yoga pants in style. And you should leave your boyfriend jeans, if you want your off days to be a bit easier.

1. Throw on a Leather Jacket

One of the best ways I found to pull off yoga pants beyond the gym is by wearing a leather jacket. The contrast between the casual feel of the lycra pants and the edginess of the leather jacket creates a super stylish day look. I would like to go for a black leather jacket more than any other color. This is because, I find that the colored one would be too much for this kind of look.

2. Put on that Bomber Jacket

Taking a style cue from Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, who rocked Yeezus inspired bomber jackets, this fashion piece is another great option and an alternative if you’re not a leather kind of girl. Whether you go for a neutral tone like black and grey or you opt for a bold bright piece, the bomber jacket will suit those yoga pants to the max!

3. Pile on the Knitwear

When the day is cold and you want to add some cozy elements to your gym gear, then knitwear is the way to go. Instead of choosing frumpy jumpers however, which will make you look too casual, pair your yoga pants with tight fitting knitted pieces for a look that is still casual but with a touch of romance.

4. Pair It with a Designer Bag

During spring and summer, when jackets and knits are out of the question I choose to accessorize well so that I can still rock yoga pants in style outside the gym. One way of doing this is by pairing my gym gear with a great designer bag. Just like the leather jacket, the contrast created between the casual clothes and the formal piece turns the whole outfit around and creates a stylish moment.

5. Don the Crop Top

When the sun is scorching hot and when a designer bag is not at hand, then donning a crop top with your yoga pants is a bold statement to make outside the gym. Remember to go for a crop top, not a sports bra, to show only a hint of the abs you have been working hard for. Put your hair up in a sleek bun and run your errands like a supermodel.

6. Leave your Boyfriend Jeans and Go for All Black

When crop tops are too much of a fashion statement for you and you are still not confident enough to wear your yoga pants beyond those gym doors, then wearing black is the option for you. Wear black from head to toe – black yoga pants, a black loose tank top, black sneakers and even a black bag. You can make an understated fashion statement.
