When it comes to Feng Shui, bathrooms have a nasty reputation and present many challenges. Fortunately, you can change that reputation with just a little bit of effort.
A proper and carefully designed Feng Shui bathroom encourages renewal and purification, and it is a perfect place to release everything that is unwanted in life. That’s precisely why you should turn your bathroom into your oasis, into a symbol of vitality that will assist you in letting go of those things that trouble you.
1. Pick the Right Color
When choosing bathroom colors, you need to know two things. First is the location of your bathroom on the bagua map. If your bathroom is in the family area of your home, you may want to incorporate green color. If it’s in the fame area, you might want to find a way to incorporate red color into the bathroom.
In general, green, white, and blue are fantastic bathroom colors in Feng Shui since they represent renewal and purification. Why these colors? Let’s take a look.
- Green – Green color represents life, new beginnings, and growth.
- Blue – Blue color represents water which cleanses and purifies.
- White – White color is a symbol of cleanliness and purity.
2. Clean up the Clutter
A cluttered bathroom is a symbol of unwillingness to let go of toxic and harmful emotional baggage. Since your bathroom should be a place where you can eliminate toxins and care for yourself, remove everything that you don’t need from the bathroom, even the pictures of yourself or your family if you have them there.
Mirrors speed up and circulate energy, and they’re highly recommended for the bathroom because of that. However, there are some things that you should care about. Make sure that the mirror in your bathroom is not reflecting the toilet. You must do so in order to avoid multiplying dirty energy.
If possible, remove the toilet from your bathroom completely. If that’s not possible, at least reduce its impact on your life.
Splashing your face with water, steaming in the shower or simply soaking and unwinding in the bathtub will restore your health and refresh your emotions. The presence of water renews your spirit and energy. However, in Feng Shui water also represents money.
To take care of the escaping chi, make a habit of closing the drains on all your bathtubs and sinks. When you have children, this is easier said than done, but with a little bit of training, anything is possible!
Replacing the bathtub might also be a good idea since old tubs can be leaky, but that’s not the only reason to do so. These new and modern bathtubs are much more carefully designed, and they do not limit the flow of energy.
5. Light and Air
Don’t be afraid to invite sunlight and fresh air into your bathroom. They’re your friends! Energize your bathroom by installing big windows or skylights (or at least keep the door open for a couple of minutes every day), and let the positive energy flow through it.
If you’re unable to install windows or skylights, try installing an LED lighting fixture. LED lights simulate natural light and boost healthy energy.
6. Replace Old Things
Old and broken things should not be in your bathroom. Broken or empty items such as soap dispensers or shampoo bottles should be thrown out of the bathroom. Even old toothbrushes shouldn’t be there. Remove everything that’s old or broken in order to allow the energy to flow freely.
Keep your bathroom clean, close the drains, throw out old things and bring that spa feeling with candles and artwork into the bathroom. Turn your bathroom into something more than just a place where you take a quick shower. Create a Feng Shui bathroom and reap the benefits!
