1. Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan

Bhangarh Fort is situated on the Jaipur-Alwar highway in Rajasthan (220 kms form New Delhi). Once a glorious city full of life and charm, the place now only has the remains of its glorious past. The fort and then within gates located city remains are now feared for their scary incidences. Entry to the fort is restricted and no body can enter the fort after sunset, according to government orders. As per the legend, a sanyasi (monk) by the name Balu Nath advised the king Bhagwant Das against building a fort at the place as this would disturb his prayers. Bhagwant Das considered his request and built the fort and the city in a way that it doesn’t cause any disturbance to the monk. Later, as the city flourished, the preaching spots of Balu Nath also got disturbed because of the encroachments. The monk cursed the city and in due course of time, famine and other natural and man-made occurrences made the inhabitants leave the place. It is said that the shrine of the monk is still situated inside the fort and his soul rises each night to haunt the surroundings.

2. Screaming Tunnel, Niagara Falls, Ontario, U.S.A.

The tunnel is located under a railway track and the track connects the beautiful falls of Niagara to New York and Toronto. The legend says that there was a farm house about a century ago on the spot (at the southern side of the tunnel). The farm house somehow caught fire and a young girl living there was caught in the flames. She screamed and yelled to catch anybody’s attention. But, there was no one to hear her. She then ran the whole area while burning and as there was no rescue, she eventually died due to the burns. It is said that if anybody lights a matchstick inside the tunnel, the spirit of the girl comes out to haunt the person.

3. Changi Beach, Singapore

Changi Beach was one of the mass killing-spots during World War-2, just like gas chambers of Nazi-party ruling Germany. The spot was the place, where a number of Chinese soldiers were tortured and then killed by the Japanese army men. These Chinese soldiers were suspected by the Japanese to have taken part in activities that were against the imperial Japanese regime. Many beach visitors have witnessed weeping and screaming at the place till date and tourists have also found pits that were used for burying the dead soldiers. Some also say that they have seen headless bodies at the beach at night! Truly, one of the most haunted places of the world.

4. The Monte Cristo Mansion, New South Wales in Austraila

One of the most urban haunted places of the world, the Monte Cristo mansion, looks like a beautiful urban villa ready to be inhabited until you get close to it. According to the legend, the owner of the this mansion was Mrs Crawley. The lady locked her up inside the mansion when her husband died. She confided herself to inner living spaces for the next 23 years and during this time period just once came out of the mansion. She died in there. Locals say that her spirit still haunts the mansion. Those passing by the mansion often hear weeping voices and screams. It is also said that those, who have tried to live in the mansion felt terrible suffocation and it appeared to them that some kind of spirit is trying to press and suffocate them.

5. The Beechworth Lunatic Asylum, Australia

The asylum was originally known as Myaday Hillds Lunatic Asylum and is located in the state of Victoria in Australia. The place was a full-fledged mental hospital from the year 1867 to the year 1995. It had a maximum capacity of 1,200 patients. Many patients of the asylum got dead during their stay periods at the asylum and it said that around 9,000 patients lost their lives here. According to the legend, the souls of these dead patients still haunt the place and people hear screaming and weeping voices here. The hospital has been decommissioned now. Ghost tours are also held in the area as it is one of the more exciting and interest-arousing hotspots in Australia.
