1. Oiling Your Hair is Compulsory
No matter what you do or how long your day has been, make sure you find time to oil your hair atleast three times a week. It’s bad enough that the air outside is dry, which makes your scalp feel flaky and dry which might lead to dandruff. Here’s what you do for your hair care this winter. In a bowl, mix equal amounts of extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil, depending upon the length of your hair. Heat the mixture and apply it on your scalp and hair with your fingers. Massage this in circular motion. Leave for about an hour or two (preferably overnight) and then shampoo it off. If you have developed dandruff, you can squeeze a lemon into the oil mixture and apply it.
2. Shampooing Everyday is a Big No No
Wash your hair not more than 2-3 times a week using a moisturizing shampoo, preferably which is sulphate and parabens free. This helps the hair from drying out and looking limp and the scalp gets locked in the moisture. You should also make sure you dry your hair before you leave your home. This is very important as when you leave your hair wet and step out of the house the air gets combined with your wet hair making it brittle and unmanageable.
3. Conditioning Your Hair Mandatory for Hair Care in Winter
Conditioning your hair after every wash is a very important regime. Make sure when you pick the conditioner it’s a silicon-free conditioner, which prevents frizziness and building of static electricity in your hair. This will also make the hair more manageable. You can also get a hair-spa done once a week in the winters to restore moisture in your scalp. It gives a fuller look.
4. Trimming Your Hair Often
Make appointments with your hairstylist and go for regular hair trims. This is equally important for hair care in winter. Getting regular trims also helps to maintain the condition of the hair during winter. Getting your hair trimmed not only lowers the risk of you getting split ends but also helps the hair from drying out and causing breakage making the hair brittle and dull to look at.
5. Trying and Avoiding Using Hot Water
Washing your hair with hot water is literally a crime and an absolute NO-NO. The hot water causes severe damage to your hair structure and makes the scalp more dry. You don’t want that. Do you?! You can use luke warm water when shampooing your hair but definitely not hot water. After the use of the conditioner, make sure you rinse your hair with cold water. This helps to open up the pores in the scalp making the hair look glossy and not dull and damaged.
Hair care is a very important part of our life just like brushing our teeth everyday. In the winters specially, good hair care is needed. Hopefully with the above must known hair care in winter tips you can make your hair look the way you want it to – smooth, silky, manageable, voluminous, shiny, damage-free.
